Fully relocated to their new home in MacAleer Drive in Charlottetown, Emergence client Stepscan welcomed fellow Emergence clients, members of the Atlantic bioscience ecosystem, and dignitaries at an open house event.
Thank you to Stepscan for hosting the community at this fantastic event. A great time was certainly had by all!
Participants took advantage of the opporutnity to meet members of the Stepscan team and view their technology through demonstrations that highlighted the capabilities of the company’s electronic floor system.
Stepscan is a prominent player in the field of gait analysis and tracking. The company manufactures pressure-sensitive floor tiles that help analyse people’s gait to identify walking disabilities or balance issues. Their cutting-edge system is exported internationally, while their technology is developed and manufactured in Prince Edward Island.
Stepscan® is designed to capture and analyze the walking patterns and balance of subjects as they move across the floor, measuring parameters such as underfoot pressure distribution, stride and speed of movement.
Sold as a medical device in North America, Australia, and China, the technology is used in the assessment and rehabilitation of patients suffering from mobility impairing conditions (i.e. Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, Concussions, Arthritis, etc.). However, the technology has exciting additional applications including in the fields of health research, simulated training for the military, sports training and biometric security.
Stepscan’s vision is to be the leading innovator, developer, and provider of movement tracking and gait analysis technology in both the medical and security & defence sectors, the world over.
Through the development and delivery of their gait analysis technology, Stepscan is committed to contributing to an enhanced quality of life for patients with walking disabilities, and ultimately, a safer society. Put simply, Stepscan’s mission is to make technology for better lives.
