Because Intellectual Property (IP) protection is a critical consideration for all new and growing ventures, Emergence, in collaboration with PEI partner Startup Zone, recently hosted an IP workshop for entrepreneurs in Charlottetown.

The workshop, held on May 09, was designed specifically to help improve IP literacy among innovators and entrepreneurs.
The session was presented by Noel Courage and Tony Orsi, Toronto-based Partners at leading Canadian IP law firm, Bereskin & Parr LLP Intellectual Property Law.
The focus of the workshop was on those elements critical to formulating an intellectual property strategy for startups and early-stage ventures.
During their presentation, entitled “Building a Strong Intellectual Property Foundation for Your Startup“, Noel and Tony focused on patents, and how they can be used as the foundation of an IP strategy, to build an IP portfolio, and create value.
The workshop was followed by a Q&A session and one-on-one meetings between the presenters and participating ventures.
