The BioInnovation Challenge (BIC) showcases the best in local life sciences innovation! The goal is to elevate the abilities of new ventures and to offer a solid foundation for growth. For that reason, participation is as much about learning as it is winning.
The 2022 BioInnovation Challenge will have three evaluation rounds.
Round One – which consists of a short application, will select 8-10 regional semi-finalists who are early stage companies or researchers with a clear intent to commercialize.
– The regional semi-finalists will each receive one-on-one and group coaching to help hone their presentation skills. This will be facilitated virtually by professional life sciences pitch coach – Linda Plano, Boston MA.
– Group workshop training will take place conducted virtually in early September 2022. This will be followed by remote 1:1 consulting up until the semi-final run-off.
Round Two – will happen on November 1st. The semi-finalists present their ‘Pitch’ virtually to a panel of judges representing investment organizations knowledgeable about the biotechnology/life sciences industries.
– The top three pitchers from Round Two will go on to present IN-PERSON in Round Three on Nov 3rd.
Round Three – during the final day of the 2022 BioPort Atlantic conference, on November 3rd (Pier 21, Halifax), the three finalists will present IN-PERSON once more to the panel and to the conference attendees, all of whom will have a role to play in choosing the winner. The announcement of the Grand Prize Winner will be made at the close of BioPort Atlantic.
– The winner receives a cash prize to assist with commercialization of his/her innovation, provided by BioNova and its partners and an Advisory Services Package valued at more than $40,000.
Since its inception in 2011, BioNova has ushered 80+ companies through the business training program, with past winners going on to great early success. Please click here for 2021 media coverage of BIC.
